heat stroke, heat related illnesses, hydration

Dehydration plays a huge part in leading to a heat related illness. Sweat is our body’s way of cooling itself down and when your hydration levels fall, your body no longer has the ability to cool itself down by producing sweat causing your temperature to rise to a dangerous level and leaving you in danger of heat stroke. Some other factors that play a part in your risk for heat stroke are pre existing conditions such as heart, lung or kidney disease, obesity or being underweight, and diabetes. Age also plays a part in your risk for heat related illness, infants and children under 4, as well as adults over 65 may be even more susceptible.

It Takes G.U.T.S. To Get Well

reiimmune hydration, recovery drink mix, pre biotic, pro biotic, gut health, get well Gut health is all the rage! Are you on board? Well you should be and here’s why: studies show that nearly 75% of your immune system is located in your guts. Your gut health has been linked to everything from depression and anxiety, to skin disorders and severe diseases. We’ve all heard the saying “you are what you eat!”-now we’re taking this concept to a cellular level. When Dr. Kerri Miller developed this revolutionary recovery formula, re:iimmune®, she recognized a critical piece missing within our health care system. The medical community has made advancements so unfathomably incredible, it’s a little hard to believe. With the help of skilled surgeons you can be given your eye sight back, they literally give you a new set of eyes…new limbs, new hearts, new noses and chins! With the help of Chemotherapy and antibiotics, diseases that would otherwise steal our precious time on earth, are slowed and even defeated. Yet, all of these intense accomplishments are met with intense trauma to our bodies, she saw a solution to making the recovery process a smoother journey for everyone. Now, it would be nice if we could just hand you a box of re:iimmune®, pat you on the back, and promise that was all it took to insure a smooth recovery, but the truth is, re:iimmune® is just one piece of the equation. As a nurse practitioner, Dr. Miller has put together a four part plan to pair with re:iimmune® that will assist any patient with their recovery process regardless of the ailment they’re facing. Over the coming weeks we will be addressing each of these crucial parts to the puzzle and rolling out the why behind our G.U.T.S.- Stay tuned!

Senior Care and What to Watch For

We tend to avoid the appearance, groan over the emerging signs, and feel the symptoms slowly showing up in our daily lives, but age is something to be honored and respected—it’s a privilege. With age, often times comes maturity and wisdom along with a myriad of physical telltales.

senior care, senior dehydration, senior wellness

Caregivers around the world have the responsibility of caring for the elderly in homes and facilities, day in and day out. Whether you’re caring for a friend or family member, or have chosen care-giving as a career path, with it comes a high amount of responsibility-- caring for another’s health is one of the most important tasks we may ever encounter. It’s important to understand and keep an eye out for the warning signs of serious health conditions surfacing. Dehydration and nutrient malabsorption may quickly lead to many serious issues. Dehydration in the elderly can easily occur due to altered thirst perception, inability to effectively communicate, medications that effect fluid levels- such as laxatives or diuretics-- or when taking more than 4 medications regularly.

Some signs to be aware of are:

  • Low blood pressure
  • Confusion
  • Headaches and Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Sunken eyes
  • Inability to sweat or produce tears
  • Low urine output or constipation
  • Urinary tract infections

Malabsorption of nutrients in the elderly can lead to anemia related fatigue, unexplained depression with signs of apathy or irritability, as well as physical manifestations such as brittle, dry hair, and ridged nails.

If you notice any of these signs in someone you’re caring for, first consult their health care provider to rule out any serious conditions, and then begin working towards strengthening their hydration levels and nutrient absorption.

The extra support from the Clinical Strength Hydration™ and balancing electrolyte nutrients in re:iimmune® help reduce dehydration when recognized in the early stages. The pre and probiotic blend paired with L-glutamine and ginger, produce a restorative element in the digestive system, and ultimately may create a more viable environment for nutrient absorption.

We want to partner with you in making people better, at every stage of life.
